Temporary Orders
What are temporary orders?
Temporary orders are the orders which are put in place to address the issues that will arise in the time between the period that the spouses separate and the time that the divorce is finalized. These issues include, but are not limited to, equalizing the parties’ access to financial resources earned during the marriage, possession or property and payment of debts.
When the children are involved, the court will try to maintain the status quo regarding conservatorship, possession and access to the children. The goal of the court when making custody determinations in a temporary order is to maintain the parent-child relationship between each child and both parents.
