Bobbie Young, R.N., J.D.
Senior Associate Attorney
& Board Certified in Child Welfare Law

Child Welfare, Divorce & Family Law Attorney
Bobbie Young is Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and leads Ramos Law Group’s Child Welfare practice, representing parents and children in Child Protective Services (CPS) cases. A registered nurse since 1983, she brings nearly three decades of courtroom experience and a clinical background to every case. She also represents clients in divorce, child custody, child support, and other family law matters.
Mrs. Young earned her Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 1996 and has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1997. She earned her board certification in 2022, and family courts regularly appoint her to represent children and parents in CPS matters. Before joining RLG, she ran her own practice for more than 25 years, handling divorce, child custody, child support, CPS matters, and professional licensure defense.
Her legal work rests on a long clinical career. Mrs. Young earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and spent more than 30 years at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She worked there as a staff nurse, charge nurse, clinical educator, and interim nurse manager, focusing on neuroscience critical care. She previously held national certifications as a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) and a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN). She also worked in neuro-intensive care at Ben Taub Hospital and in epilepsy research with the Kelsey Research Foundation.
Her medical training gives her a well-rounded perspective on her cases, especially those involving children with special needs, medical neglect allegations, or complex health histories. She knows how to read a medical record, question a diagnosis, and turn clinical findings into arguments a court can act on. Other attorneys have learned from her, too. She has presented “How to Read a Medical Record” at the Adjusting the Bar ad litem seminar on DFPS cases and “Communicating with Children” for ad litem and amicus attorney certification training.
Mrs. Young also teaches as an adjunct professor of Paralegal Studies at Houston Community College. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, the Texas Bar College, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, and the American Association of Nurse Attorneys.
